Bengals Joe Burrow Injury Update: Coach Zac Taylor Gives A Rough Idea When The QB Will Return
Burrow had a calf issue at the start of training camp last month, which should have terrified Bengals supporters everywhere. The star quarterback was withdrawn from the workout after being carried off the field with a non-contact injury as he gripped at his lower leg in alarming images.
Bengals Joe Burrow Injury Update: Coach Zac Taylor Gives A Rough Idea When The QB Will Return
For the Bengals, seeing their quarterback down and writhing in pain brought back terrifying memories of Burrow’s ACL tear from his rookie season. Taylor said Burrow will miss many weeks of action due to his calf injury the day after the injury.
Following a right calf injury on July 28, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will be out for more than the next “several weeks,” according to coach Zac Taylor.

“The timeline [Burrow’s return] is several weeks from when I said several weeks,” Taylor said.
During a team drill at the squad’s training camp, Burrow suffered a right calf injury. Toward the end of the session, the Cincinnati signal-caller suffered a non-contact injury when he was rushing out of the pocket on a play.

The Bengals’ standout wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase recently said that Burrow “shouldn’t see the field” during the preseason or perhaps Week 1 in order to rest his calf. However, it is uncertain when Burrow will make a comeback.
When questioned about his remarks from Sunday, two-time Pro Bowler Chase gave a clarification and stuck to his original position.

Chase stated, “I told him, in all honesty, I don’t want him there. You don’t want to cause problems later in the season. As long as you’re there… pic.twitter.com/equZZAgVaZ

“I just want him to be 100% healthy to play. I don’t want him rushing anything, I don’t want people in his ear telling him to play at a certain time. I just want him to be healthy,” Chase said, per Jeremy Rauch of FOX-19 TV in Cincinnati.
The length of Joe Burrow’s absence will determine how well the Cincinnati Bengals do without him. With Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning in the quarterback room, if Burrow just misses one or two games to start the season, coping shouldn’t be a problem.

However, calf injuries can persist and be difficult to recover from. That’s a different debate if those one to two games turn into four or five.
The Bengals are currently optimistic about Burrow’s prognosis, and Chase doesn’t appear overly concerned.
